African Bush Camps Lolebezi, Lower Zambezi, Zambia

Why We Love Lolebezi:

This part of the Lower Zambezi is well known for excellent leopard sightings, particularly in the early morning and at dusk. The sunrise and sunset river cruises were a personal highlight for us. Watching the bush come to life or slowly wind down from the water is a powerful and grounding experience.

Another Guest Favorite? For guests who enjoy balancing indulgence with movement, Lolebezi offers a bright, well-equipped gym and a tranquil spa. After a workout or a long day on safari, a riverfront massage is the perfect way to unwind. It is an exceptional blend of wellness and wilderness.

Insider’s Tip: During our stay, we met Desmond, the camp’s charismatic mixologist, who created a signature cocktail named after Ubuntu Travel. Ask for the Ubuntu Cocktail after your afternoon game drive. It is bold, zesty, and perfectly suited to sunset on the Zambezi.

 FAQs About Lolebezi

How Far is Lolebezi From Victoria Falls/Livingstone Airport?

Access to Lolebezi depends on the season. From April to November, guests fly into Jeki Airstrip – a 2-hour flight from Livingstone or 30 minutes from Lusaka – followed by a short 15-minute game drive to camp.

During the green season (December to March), flights land at Royal Airstrip, with a scenic 1.5-hour boat transfer to Lolebezi. (Royal can be used year-round, but a surcharge applies outside peak months.)

What Activities are included at Lolebezi?

Expect a full adventure schedule at Lolebezi: morning and afternoon game drives, guided walking safaris, catch‑and‑release fishing, birdwatching, canoe excursions, and both sunrise and sunset boat cruises along the Zambezi.

Co-founder Kyle Green visited in May and recorded six leopard sightings in just two days! Night drives are a standout feature, offering the chance to spot elusive nocturnal species like honey badgers, civets, white-tailed mongooses, hyenas, and owls.

Is Lolebezi Family Friendly?

Absolutely. The lodge welcomes all ages, with two spacious family suites featuring private plunge pools. Note: walking safaris and canoeing are restricted to guests aged 16+, ensuring safety.

What Makes Lolebezi Unique?

Set on 5 hectares of private riverfront, Lolebezi combines sleek, modern design with African craftsmanship in the heart of the UNESCO-listed Lower Zambezi National Park. The lodge is renowned for exceptional leopard sightings, frequent elephant herds, and high-end amenities – including a luxury spa, riverside gym, and private plunge pools.

During our visit, the warmth and professionalism of the team stood out. Every staff member brought genuine energy and joy to the experience – it’s the kind of atmosphere you can feel from the moment you arrive.

Are There Spa and Gym Facilities at Lolebezi?

Yes, you’ll find a fully equipped and spacious gym, spa treatment center and relaxation deck – all overlooking the river – perfect for post-safari rejuvenation.

What is the Best Time to Visit Lolebezi?

Lolebezi is open from April 8 to January 7, and each season offers a different safari experience. The dry season (June to October) is considered the best time for game viewing, as wildlife densities increase around the Zambezi River and visibility improves with thinning vegetation. This period is also peak season for predator sightings—including leopard, lion, and wild dog—thanks to cooler temperatures and easier tracking conditions during game drives and walking safaris.

The shoulder months (April–May and November) offer a quieter experience, with lush landscapes and excellent birdwatching.

During the green season (December to March), some areas become inaccessible due to rain and flooding. While game drives are more limited, river-based activities like sunset cruises, canoeing, and catch-and-release fishing continue, and the landscapes are at their most vibrant.

Importantly, Lolebezi’s private location in the central sector of Lower Zambezi National Park means fewer vehicles and a more exclusive safari experience, no matter when you visit. If you’re seeking seclusion and top-tier wildlife, this lodge delivers across all seasons.
