Hidden beneath the shade of acacia trees on the eastern edge of the world famous Ngorongoro Crater, Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp offers one of the most strategic locations for crater exploration. Accessing the crater floor can often be time consuming, but Lemala’s position along the quieter Lemala access road significantly reduces travel time.
From camp, it takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes to reach the crater floor, allowing guests to maximise time spent exploring this extraordinary landscape. The quieter access route also means fewer vehicles and a more relaxed start to the day compared to the busier western rim.
Accommodation is offered in nine spacious tented suites, each beautifully furnished with soft linens and décor in natural cream and earthy tones. Ensuite bathrooms include a dressing area, flush toilet and a generous safari style shower. One tent features two bedrooms, making it a good option for families or multigenerational travel.
Meals are served in the welcoming mess tent, where hearty menus are enjoyed together. Evenings are often spent around the fire, sharing stories from the day’s game drives and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the crater rim.
