What will you experience on this Malaria-Free Safari?
Cape Town | South Africa
Your journey begins in Cape Town, the vibrant city where mountains meet the sea. Known as one of Africa’s top destinations, it’s a perfect place for families to relax and explore. Spend time on the beach, or take a day trip around the Cape Peninsula to visit the famous African penguins at Boulders Beach.
For active families, hike Lion’s Head for panoramic views of the city and Table Mountain. At Cape Point, look for ostrich, eland, bontebok, and old shipwrecks along the trails. You can also sea kayak off Sea Point’s promenade, where Heaviside’s dolphins are often seen swimming nearby.
Cape Town is a city built for families. Parents can enjoy great food and local wines at outdoor restaurants while keeping an eye on their little explorers.
Whale Coast | Cape Floral Kingdom
After a few days in Cape Town, travel two hours to Walker Bay, a spectacular stretch of South Africa’s Whale Coast.
This area is perfect for families. Watch migrating whales from land, boat, or even the sky. Go on a marine safari, or try shark-cage diving in one of the world’s most diverse marine ecosystems.
Explore mountain trails on foot or horseback. Visit Klipgat Cave to learn about the San and Khoikhoi people, and sample local cuisine inspired by the Cape Floral Kingdom.
The Whale Coast is a place where nature, culture, and adventure come together for the whole family.
Marataba | Marakele National Park
Set in the malaria-free Waterberg Mountains, Marakele National Park means “a place of sanctuary.” It’s an ideal safari destination for families.
See a variety of wildlife, from sable and kudu to elephants, rhinos, and lions. Leopards and hyenas are also often spotted in this diverse landscape.
In the private Marataba Reserve, families can join a unique rhino conservation experience. Help track and protect these endangered animals while staying in one of two luxury lodges. It’s a safe, hands-on adventure perfect for families looking to connect through nature and purpose.
Tswalu Kalahari | South Africa
Your final stop is Tswalu Kalahari, South Africa’s largest private game reserve. Set in the dramatic Kalahari Desert, this vast landscape blends arid savannah, red dunes, and the Korannaberg Mountains.
Spot four of the Big Five, including black-maned lions and black rhinos. Look for desert-adapted wildlife like cheetah, oryx, and brown hyena. A family favorite is visiting the habituated meerkats, known for their curious and playful behavior.
For added privacy, stay in an exclusive-use homestead, offering space, comfort, and complete immersion in the wilderness.
