What will you experience on this Zimbabwe Safari?
Victoria Falls | Zimbabwe
Known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya, “the smoke that thunders”, Victoria Falls is the world’s largest curtain of falling water and one of Africa’s most powerful natural landmarks.
Beyond the falls, the region offers a wide range of experiences. Helicopter flights provide a full perspective of the waterfall, while activities such as white-water rafting, bungee jumping and visits to Devil’s Pool offer a more adrenaline-focused experience.
For a slower pace, sunset cruises on the Zambezi River, canoeing and guided tours of the falls provide a more relaxed introduction to Zimbabwe.
Hwange National Park | Victoria Falls
Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s largest national park, covering over 3.5 million acres and home to one of Africa’s highest concentrations of elephants.
Game viewing is centered around a network of pumped waterholes, particularly during the dry season from July to October, where large herds of elephant, buffalo and plains game gather. Predator sightings are strong, with lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog regularly seen.
The Ngamo Plains in the south-eastern region offer a more open landscape, particularly in the green season, attracting high densities of wildlife and providing excellent photographic opportunities.
Mana Pools National Park | Zimbabwe
Seasonal Note: Mana Pools typically opens from mid-April, following the rainy season when access improves and camps reopen.
Set along the Zambezi River, Mana Pools is one of Africa’s most exclusive and experience-driven safari destinations. Known for its walking safaris, guests explore on foot with highly qualified guides, tracking elephant, buffalo and other wildlife along river channels and floodplains.
Canoe safaris along the Zambezi offer a completely different perspective, moving quietly past hippo, crocodile and large herds of game along the banks.
This is a safari focused on immersion, space and guiding quality, rather than vehicle density.
Lake Kariba & Matusadona Region
Lake Kariba is one of Africa’s largest bodies of water, creating a unique safari environment where wildlife and water intersect.
Staying on a private concession near Matusadona National Park, the area offers a quieter and more remote safari experience. Elephant and buffalo regularly gather along the shoreline, while lion and other predators move through the surrounding areas.
Activities include boat safaris, walking safaris, fishing and game drives. The slower pace and open views make this an ideal place to end the journey.

When is the Best Time to visit Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe is a year-round safari destination, but the best time to visit depends on the regions you plan to explore and the experiences you are looking for. The dry season from May to October offers the most consistent wildlife viewing, while the green season from November to April brings lush landscapes, fewer vehicles and strong predator activity in certain areas.
Dry Season in Zimbabwe (May to October)
- Wildlife gathers around natural and pumped water sources, making sightings reliable and often dramatic
- Temperatures are warm and pleasant with little rain
- Mana Pools and Hwange offer exceptional predator and elephant sightings
- Walking safaris in Mana Pools reach their peak from July to October
Green Season and Early Rains (November to April)
- Lush green scenery transforms Hwange and Matusadona into vivid, photogenic landscapes
- Excellent birding, with migratory species arriving across Zimbabwe
- Calving season for many antelope species, attracting predators
- Afternoon storms may occur, but mornings are often clear and beautiful
- Fewer travellers, creating quiet and exclusive safari experiences
Mana Pools Note:
Mana Pools National Park closes every year from January to March due to rainfall and floodplain conditions
The park typically reopens in April, with access improving progressively into the dry season
